Description
19th century French silver sweetmeat dish; of oval form with a cover, and a blue glass liner. The freize running round the top of the body is wonderfully decorated with pierced "putti and foliate" designs, which are enhanced by the blue glass liner. The cover is of typical "belle epoque" decoration, the whole resting on four heavy cast leaf and pad feet. Superb quality, good maker and a real "eyeful!" Charming.Paris. c.1895. Paul Canaux & Cie.
